Well I have been sicker than a dog...lol. And with that being said I have not been posting on here like I should but I hope you all are well and creating something everyday. My friend Ashley is selling her scrapbooking store because her husband has been transferred to Brazil and I am excited for her but sad at the same time going to miss her and her store to hang out at. Anyway on to something new we have a new bead store in Tulsa called Beads by Bobbi she just opened up and has some great classes going on and is offering members of the Oklahoma Bead Society 20% off of your bead purchase so stop by soon and meet her. Come see our new BEAD Corner

Have you been to the store lately? If you haven't then you need to drop by soon. We have expanded the store and we have alot more fun space for products, cropping and beading fun. I know this may sound a little strange hearing about beading at a scrapbook store but with all the new trends coming out the scrapbook and beading industry are combining so we have created a beading corner at the store featuring various types of beads, memory jewelry, pendants, chain and so much more to come. Along with the store being open for free cropping on Weds and Thurs during business hours we will now be offering free open beading as well and starting on Sunday March 13th we will be open for store sales and free open beading from 12-5. The store will also be doing jewelry classes and demo's soon so stay tuned for all the details about the beading corner at A Memory To Scrap

I would also like to invite you to become a part of a great society called the Oklahoma Bead Society we meet the first Weds of each month at the Hardesty Library off of 91st and Memorial here in Tulsa. Our dues are $20.00 per year and we will be taking them starting in January hope to see you there. We do a new project each month and then also do a bead trip once a month.

Arts and Crafts Benefit Bazaar (YOU are invited)

You are invited to the 38th annual Arts and Crafts Benefit Bazaar sponsored by ESA Sorority Alpha Rho Chapter.

Will be held on Saturday October 23rd, 2010 from 9am to 5pm. The location is Clarence Oliver Middle School at 3100 West New Orleans (101st street) between 129th and 145th streets Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The admission is free to the public and there will be a concession stand to grab a bit to eat.

You will be able to find handmade items including: Jewelry, Ceramics, Woodcrafts and so much more.

Bead Show in Tulsa this weekend

There is a new bead show in town called the Bead Jamboree if you are in Tulsa or surrounding area drop by this weekend to check them out great deals to be had and this is the last show in Tulsa until November so stock up now.

It is being held at the Tulsa fairgrounds expo center behind Big Splash.

Hours are Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4 July 24th and July 25th.

The Oklahoma Bead Society will be there demonstrating stitches and upcoming projects as well as hourly door prizes. Best of all the admission is free and all ages are welcome.

Hope to see ya there if I feel good enough. Shane will be there for sure.

This was such a fun event. The event was all about the earth and recycling and we had a wonderful time showing people about beading and the craft.

The society has a upcoming event called the 4th Annual Bead Blast which will be held on Saturday May 15th from 10-4 at Edison Middle School Cafeteria which is located at 2906 East 41st in tulsa. Spaces are still available for the event and if you are a beader or would like to sell some supplies you can contact Diana Foster at tfdf1@juno.co for more information.

Crop Sign up for April and upcoming classes

April Crop Sign Up will begin on Thursday Feb 25th at 10am

It's that time again - crop sign up. The April calendar is now on the web site so you can start to plan. Reservations will be taken via e-mail only to ashley@amemorytoscrap.com

Payment is due by Sat Feb 27th at 6:00pm or your spot will be filled.

New Crop Sign Up Policy

Reservations for crops will be made via e-mail only to Ashley@amemorytoscrap.com
You can only reserve spots for yourself and 3 other people. Your e-mail should include the names of all the people you are reserving for. Your e-mail also needs to include a phone number where you can be reached. Finally your e-mail should say whether you are coming in the store to pay for the crops or pay by credit card. I will e-mail you back to let you know that you got in the crop.

Classes in February and March

February 25th at 6 pm - Page Lay Out with Linda $20 - Linda's awesome pages are known all around Tulsa. We are very lucky to have her join the Staff at A Memory to Scrap. Come enjoy creating an awesome Spring double page.

March 4th at 6:00 pm - Brittany's Layout Class $25 - Join us for this cute and trendy 2 page layout class. We will be learning how to make a ruffle border with tissue paper and Glimmer Mist as well as altering Prima flowers with Glimmer Mist and distress stickles. In addition to all of this, Brittany will show you how to make a photo mat with your regular border punches - no corner punch necessary! This layout features a pretty pink, cream, and brown color scheme.

March 18th at 6 pm - Page Lay Out with Linda $20 - The Easter Bunny will be coming to your pages in Linda's latest class. Based on vintage Easter paper, this class is sure to please.

Hope everyone is having a great year so far. The weather here in Oklahoma has really taken a toll on me medically I have not been very well...but I am not going to let it get me down. February 11th - Shane's technique class $18 at 7pm - In this class you will make a 2 page layout using some new techniques for grunge, alcohol inks, mini misters, mini distresser and distressing inks. You will be creating these pages with a new line of products out that are so fun using gears and rock-n-roll items. Well we had a great time cropping this weekend at the only Scrapbook store left in the Tulsa are (A Memory To Scrap) all the others are now out of business it is so sad to see how the economic times have killed the art and craft industry.

I wanted to thank all of our scrapbooking friends that sent a beautiful plant to Shane's grandmothers funeral it was very touching to know we have such wonderful creative friends that mean so much to us during this sad time for Shane. He was very close to his grandma and is really taking it hard. It is so hard to lose loved ones and especially at the holidays. So thank you for your support and love.

Ok so I got a email from one of our cropping friends where she had found a site that made unique creations from tampons and knowing shane she said she was suprised he had not Tim Holtzed one up yet so here ya go Cheryl you will be getting this one for Christmas...lol enjoy. I warned you...dont give shane a crazy idea you never know what will happen but actually I think it is kind of cute for what it is made from. He used grungeboard, alcohol inks, tampon of course, bling, stickles, button, fragment and a clipart photo.

Sorry everyone I have been so under the weather lately. I wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful emails and kind words I really appreciate it. I had 4 different heart tests done Friday so hopefully they will find something out and be able to fix me up. I am supposed to get the results by tues so please keep me in your prayers.

Now on to better things, we did a 3 day crop this weekend and had a great time visiting with everyone. I only made a 2 page layout and a small album as I was not in the best of health but I enjoyed being with everyone I will try to post some pictures later this week of what I created.

Don't forget if you are taking shane's class it is coming up this thursday night and also just to give you a heads up his January class will be using metal and memory glass to make jewelry memory charms so if you missed the last one here is your chance to sign up.

Well here are some pictures of some of the items that shane will be teaching in his November and December classes there are a few more to come so I will get them posted shortly for you... The November 5th class will be featuring the Ranger Memory Capsules and metal frames in which you can make into ornaments or jewelery. This will be a fun and messy class using inks.

Shane's December class will feature a exploding Christmas album and a canvas tour book. This class is filling up quickly so give Ashley a call to get your name on this one it will be held on December 10th for $18.00.

Quick Quotes fun this weekend

Well Ashley won so she was able to be at the convention selling items and Shane and I got to help out with make and takes and using QQ products and I have to say it was so much fun and we loved it...

If you get a chance to attend one of their convention crops it is well worth the money. I got to see and help hand out so many great products that the people received it was wonderful and I know I just kept saying WOW is this part of their package. I used their ink and it is great on canvas and paper.

I had to sign up for the option D package just to get my hands on some of this great stuff. Patricia of Quick Quotes was so nice to us and helped us with the setup of the make and takes. Shane learned some new techniques so I know he already has a list of people wanting to see him do some of the things again.

Here are some of the things I got in the kit for Option D each month there are new items sent to your home and I cant wait to get started on them and I will post them here for you to view. Ashley won a big store credit so be letting her know what you like from Quick Quotes so she can get it in the store for you.

Well this weekend I have felt better than I have in about a year. I went to the Quick Quotes convention and helped with make and takes and I got to go to a car show where my friend was at and I have known him 25 years and I really miss seeing him...Most of you don't know that I grew up as a tomboy racing and building cars and running the racing scene back in the day. Love you Jon Hollis you are my BFF!!!!!

Under the weather

I have been a little under the weather so I have not posted alot of new creations in a few days as I have been uncreative. This time I think it is my gallbladder.

Anyway I wanted to let everyone know that I am starting to do a little better and will try to get some new creations done hopefully soon. I will be out of pocket this weekend as there is a adoptathon in Mcalester we will be showing the foster doggies at. But hopefully next week will change things up.

Shane's class will be This coming Thursday night at 7:00 so dont forget it will be learning different techniques on tags to carry with you using Ranger techniques and products and it should be lots of fun as always.

I have posted a few of my favorite fall creations that have been completed some time ago but wanted to share them with you since the weather is getting colder now and the leaves are starting to change.

Wow I just logged on to add another creation and just noticed I have hit 10,000 visits I am so excited it made my day thats for sure....Thanks everyone I appreciate you more than you will ever know.

As some of you are aware I am battling many health issues that will take a bit hit out of my time here on earth. So because I have so many friends on the net and a few great friends at my local LSS I am able to continue my creative journey and have the spirit to do so. Thanks to each of you for following me, emailing me, givin me heck sometimes...lol I love each of you and remember to create everyday as you never know what might be around the corner. And remember there are no mistakes in art only creative changes.

Ok so back to my original post...lol.

I have created a piece that is a little scary compared to my usual pieces but I had a request so here it is and it is now up on ETSY for sale at www.janrogers.etsy.com

New Jewelry creation for Etsy

Well I decided to create something kind of fall/Halloween for the Etsy store at www.janrogers.etsy.com

It is for sale at $27.50 it has alot of vintage beads and trinkets that I have found at flea markets and estate sales then I created alot of wire spirals and twists and then wrapped an old earing frame with some of the beads.

The focal point is made with a Grungeboard keyhole for those that are familiar with Tim's goodies...lol. Then a old owl piece from a 70's bracelet and a witches hat with a glass flat bead on it.

The pics dont really do justice but I hope you like it and it inspires you to create.

This Halloween album was created with Teresa C. papers, bind it all and then using Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels was sprayed with the black gold to give it that Halloween feel.

Wow Shane and I are so excited we got published in the Scrapbooking.com magazine and on their newsletter now as the BLOG of the week....talk about doing a happy dance!!!

I GOT PUBLISHED....OMGosh Twice as of today

I am so excited I just have to toot my horn for a moment I got published in the upcoming Feb issue of Scrapbook.com magazine

It was the altered pink purse creation...I am so happy.

Today 12-11-08 I was contacted by Pinecone Press to have one of my word books published... Twice in one week I have been contacted.

This is so exciting nothing then all at once....I really needed this to boost my spirits. Thanks to everyone that has supported me in my art. My dreams are starting to come true now if I can just hold on to my health a little longer maybe Shane and I can get on some great design teams

That is our dream to be on a design team together, so lets see what 2009 will bring.
